What affect do religious practices have on daily life?
In different religions, they do different things. They do different religious practices to connect to whoever or whatever they believe in. Not only do they do these things to create a connection, but they do these things to lift themselves up in a way. In Islam, Muslims perform religious practices everyday to focus their minds and worship. In Taoism, Daoists, or Taoists perform religious practices to concentrate, and think of things in another sense, and be mindful of things that aren't noticed. These are different, but somehow have an effect on daily life

Muslims pray everyday and they do many things to follow Q'uran. They don't just do it three or fours days of the week. Like said before, they do these things everyday. This quote is saying that if a believer in Islam commits their self to Allah, they should commit their whole life to Allah. It's saying that if they don't allocate themselves to Allah everyday, then it is worthless not doing it on a day-to-day basis. It changes how a Muslim thinks of commitment. It makes believers of Islam think its only right to partake in this religious practice everyday..
"O you who believe, seek help through steadfastness and the contact prayers (Salah). Allah is with those who steadfastly persevere."
Believers of Islam do ritual prayers called Salah, that is supposed to be done five times a day. The purpose of Salah is to worship God and focus on him. At the same time it's to connect with him and have a personal communication with him. This quote is saying that believers in Islam should perform Salah faithfully. Those who do this in their daily life, will have Allah with them.
While you Cultivate the soul and embrace unity, can you keep them from separating? Focus your vital breath until it is supremely soft, can you be like a baby? Cleanse the mirror of mysteries, can you make it free of blemish? Love the people and enliven the state, can you do so without cunning? Open and close the gate of heaven, can you play the part of the female? Reach out with clarity in all directions, can you refrain from action? It gives birth to them and nurtures them, It gives birth to them but does not possess them, It rears them but does not control them. This is called “mysterious integrity.”

If you can be aligned and be tranquil, Only then can you be stable. With a stable mind at your core, With the eyes and ears acute and clear, And with the four limbs firm and fixed, You can thereby make a lodging place for the vital essence. The vital essence: it is the essence of the vital energy. When the vital energy is guided, it [the vital essence] is generated, But when it is generated, there is thought, When there is thought, there is knowledge, But when there is knowledge, then you must stop. Whenever the forms of the mind have excessive knowledge, You lose your vitality. (tr. Roth 1999:60)
This quote has to do with Daoist meditation. Like said before, it is a deeper thought of concentration, and requires focus. This quote is a verse from one of the passages from a book called Guanzi. Guanzi has four chapters on meditation practices. It gets into "purifying the mind" and "training the mind". This quote is saying if you can be focused, or aligned then you can have knowledge. You can be on the right track doing the right thing, you can have knowledge as a result of being focused..
